Gwendolyn Evans Gallery, a hidden gem located at 75 Hunters Landing Rd, just 4 miles south of Damariscotta off Route 129, is full of new paintings–watercolors, oils, pastels, mixed media, including seascapes, nudes, and abstracts. The award-winning artist’s in-home gallery/studio contains three floors of more than 300 of her paintings which she delights in showing to visitors. The gallery is open Wednesdays through Saturdays 10 to 4. Call before you come in case Gwendolyn is out painting (207) 390-8554, landline, not a cell; no text).
One of Gwendolyn’s favorite painting spots is the Pemaquid area, as seen here in her new 36″ x 28″ framed watercolor, Buoyant Breakers. She has also recently completed a series of ten large oil/mixed media abstracts, some of which include her original poetry.
“My art has stories to tell,” Gwendolyn says, “and I love sharing the meaning behind each creation.” A professional artist for six decades who has lived in 35 different places and had four public galleries, Gwendolyn moved to Maine in November 2018 and opened her gallery to the public the following year. Gwendolyn says, “Come see me! Discover one artist’s diversity. As one of my RISD profs said when I was completing my Master’s Degree years ago: ‘It isn’t art until it’s SEEN!’ “
Gwendolyn is also a member of Pemaquid Group of Artists, exhibiting a dozen of her pieces at the Lighthouse Gallery. Visit her main website at www.gwendolynevans.com and her blog at www.voiceandvisionwordsandworks.com. And come visit her in-home gallery for a feast of diverse art.
